When customer requests are leading to new features – CAPcargo driver app

We have heard the same customer questions again and again: “Why don’t you offer an own driver app? You know, not a big fleet management system, we don’t want to monitor the engine, just transmitting orders to the drivers and getting confirmations back.”gement System, wir müssen nicht den Motor überwachen, einfach um Aufträge zu übermitteln und Bestätigungen zurückzusenden.»

In der Vergangenheit war unsere Antwort recht einfach. Setzt doch ein bestehendes Fleet Management System ein, es gibt unzählige Anbieter auf dem Markt, und wir bauen eine clevere Schnittstelle. Die Fragen haben aber nicht nachgelassen nach einer Out-of-the-Box CAPcargo-App und so haben wir einen Prototypen-Versuch anfangs 2019 gestartet. Als Teil der CAPcargo Mitarbeiter cap.lab Initiative, eine erste Version basierend auf der Microsoft PowerApp Plattform war rasch verfügbar. Während dieser Zeit haben wir viel betreffend der Bedienbarkeit von Apps gelernt. Da wir die Arbeit von Fahrern genau kennen, haben wir gesehen, dass diese erste Version nicht unseren Vorstellungen entsprochen hat. Zu langsam, Einschränkungen in der Bedienung und andere Elemente haben klar aufgezeigt, nur eine «richtige» App kann uns näher an unsere Vision bringen.

During Summer 2019 we have launched the development of an android app. The work is nicely progressing, and we expect to have a beta version available beginning 2020. We are happy that a pilot customer will start testing the application and we can take the real-life feedback directly into account while we continue developing additional features into the app. When coming closer to the official launch, more information to follow.
